Hippo & Baby (Kiboko)

R3 200

Length = 32cm (12,6in)

Kiboko means `Hippo – The ferocious one` in Swahili. A single young is born either in shallow water or on land. In water, the mother helps the newborn to the surface, later teaching it to swim. Newly born hippos are relatively small, weighing from 25 to 55 kgs, and are protected by their mothers, not only from crocodiles and lions but from male hippos that, oddly enough, do not bother them on land but attack them in water.

Zawadi statuettes are made of cold-cast bronze, which allows us to keep the look and durability of bronze, while reducing the price and weight of the sculpture, which also helps reduce shipping costs.
Our statues are life-like, with great attention to detail and distinctive features.
Cold-cast bronze sculptures are equally valuable as solid bronze statuettes, but are lower in price.
